Frequently Asked Questions – The Groom Lab

We know grooming can be a source of stress for both you and your pet. That's why we built The Groom Lab around one simple idea: grooming should feel good for everyone involved. Below, we've answered the questions pet parents ask us most.

Is the Steam Brush safe for cats and dogs?

Yes, the Steam Brush is designed for both dogs and cats. The bristles are soft silicone, so they glide through fur without scratching or pulling, and the mist is cool rather than heated. As with any new grooming tool, introduce it gradually and keep an eye on how your pet responds.

Does the Steam Brush really work without water or a traditional bath?

It does. The Steam Brush uses cool-mist atomization, not actual steam or heat, to release a fine mist from its built-in reservoir while you brush. This helps soften fur, loosen dander and reduce static without wetting your pet's coat. There's no tub, no rinsing and no mess.

How often should I use the Steam Brush on my pet?

That depends on your pet's coat type, shedding level and lifestyle. Some pet parents use it daily for heavy shedders, while others find a few times a week is plenty. The brush is rechargeable and built for regular use, so you can make it part of your routine as often as your pet needs it.

Is the Steam Brush suitable for pets with sensitive skin?

The soft silicone bristles are designed to glide through fur without pulling or scratching, and the mist is cool rather than heated, so it suits most pets well. If your pet has a diagnosed skin condition or you have any concerns, check with your vet before introducing a new grooming tool.

Do I have to keep buying Mist Refill bottles to use the brush?

No. The Steam Brush works perfectly well with plain water in the reservoir. The Mist Refill is our botanical grooming solution, which adds extra conditioning, but it is completely optional. Think of it as an upgrade, not a requirement.

Can I use the brush with just water instead of the Mist Refill?

Yes, plain water works well for everyday brushing sessions. If you want the added benefits of the Mist Refill, you can use it on its own for deeper grooming sessions or dilute it with water to make each bottle go further. Many pet parents alternate between the two.

How long does one Mist Refill bottle last?

With weekly use, one bottle typically lasts around two months, so a six-bottle bundle covers roughly a year. The exact duration varies with your pet's size, coat length and how often you use the solution. Diluting the Mist Refill with water makes each bottle go further.

How long does the battery last on a single charge?

The Steam Brush has a rechargeable battery built for regular grooming sessions, so you can get through several full sessions on one charge. Plug it in when the battery runs low and it will be ready for the next grooming day.

What if my pet doesn't like the brush right away?

That's completely normal, particularly for pets who find grooming stressful. Start with short, gentle sessions of a minute or two. Let your pet sniff the brush, get used to the quiet hum and feel the cool mist. Most owners find their pet settles into it after a few sessions. Patience pays off here.

Is there a warranty or money-back guarantee?

Yes, on both counts. Every Steam Brush comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee, so you can try it and send it back if it isn't the right fit. We also include a 1-year warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. These are in addition to your statutory rights, which are not affected. Full details are in our Return and Refund Policy.

Where do you ship, and how long does delivery take?

We ship to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Orders are processed in 1 to 3 business days, and delivery usually takes 6 to 12 business days after dispatch. You'll receive tracking as soon as your order ships. Full details are on our Shipping and Delivery page.

Will I have to pay customs or import charges?

The total shown at checkout is the amount you pay us. Depending on your country and order value, customs may charge import duties or taxes on delivery, and the carrier may add a handling fee. Where these apply they are not charged by us. See our Shipping and Delivery page for details.

Can I return the brush if it isn't right for us?

Yes. You can request a return within 30 days of receiving your order. If you live in the UK or Ireland you also have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of delivery, without giving a reason. Email us and we'll guide you through it. See our Return and Refund Policy for the full terms.
